Tour Itinerary

  • Dated back to the end of the 2nd millennium BCE, Midian is known for being the place where the Prophet Moses sought refuge after fleeing from Egypt. There he met the Prophet Jethro who recognized in Moses a pure soul and gave him one of his daughters. Moses then lived for ten years with his wife and father-in-law in Midian before returning to Egypt to free its people from the Pharaoh Ramses II.
  • Moses Well, where Moses found his future wife for the first time (Sephora) and protected Jethro’s flock.
  • Maqna (The 12 springs of Moses) is a charming coastal town located on the Gulf of Aqaba that faces Egypt and the Sinai mountains, clearly visible from it. But the town is famous for its wells that witnessed an important episode in the life of the Prophet Moses and is a very significant stop on the way to Mount Horeb. This place is described in Exodus and by Josephus to have 12 natural springs and 70 palm trees which provide year-round water.
  • Tayeb Ism (The valley of Moses) is one of the magical natural wonders of Saudi Arabia that takes visitors by surprise. This incredible natural feature of Tabuk Province is located on the Gulf of Aqaba, just 20 Km north of the coastal town of Maqna.
  • Overnight Tabuk

  • Today we drive to the Split Rock of Horeb, Northwestern Saudi Arabia, Tabuk Province. Many people of differing faiths believe this is the rock that MOSES struck with his staff and water poured out to quench the thirst of his followers Bani Israel. The rock stands majestically above the surrounding area and there are signs of water erosion below.
  • The split rock is located on the west side of Jebel Al Lawz, and the name Meribah means strife.
  • drive to Jabal Al-Lawz, whose name means the almond mountain in Arabic, is one of the most mythical mountains of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Most people think that Saudi Arabia is just a vast extent of sand dunes but with its summit at 2 549 meters above sea level Jebel Al-Lawz is the highest mountain of Tabuk and is probably the only place in Saudi Arabia where snow falls nearly every year. As surprising as it sounds Saudi Arabia does have regular snowfalls thanks to its many mountains above 2 500 meters. But as the Jebel Al-Lawz is the highest mountain in the north of the country and it is located beyond the northern tip of the Red Sea and its warm waters, this mountain is more exposed to low temperatures and sees snows more often than any other area of Saudi.
  • Continue off road via the most spectacular landscape toward Golden Calf & Moses Altar. When Moses went up into Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments, he left the Israelites for forty days and forty nights. The Israelites feared that he would not return and demanded that Aaron make them “a god to go before them”. Aaron gathered up the Israelites’ golden earrings and ornaments, constructed a “molten calf” and they declared: “‘This is thy god, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt”, along with 12 pillars representing the 12 tribes of Israel.
  • Elijah’s cave is located 300m in elevation above Moses’ Just above the cave is a sub-peak of Mt Sinai; on this peak sit two large rectangular shaped boulders – they are affectionately called the “10 Commandments” because of their tablet-like shape.
